Why Golden Hour Wedding Photos Are Always Worth It

If you’ve been browsing Pinterest for wedding inspiration and noticed those warm, glowy, dreamy portraits — chances are they were taken at golden hour.
As a wedding photographer who loves the countryside, golden hour is genuinely my favourite time to photograph couples.
Golden hour happens just before sunset, when the light turns soft and warm. It’s incredibly flattering and creates that natural, romantic glow without feeling staged.
The best part? You don’t need to disappear for ages.
Most of my couples step away from their guests for around 15–20 minutes. We take a short walk, have a laugh, and capture relaxed wedding portraits that don’t feel forced or awkward.
If you’re planning a rustic barn wedding, outdoor ceremony or countryside wedding in Nottinghamshire, I’ll always keep an eye on the light and guide you when the timing is perfect.
These are often the photos couples frame in their homes.
If natural, relaxed wedding photography is important to you, golden hour is something you won’t regret building into your timeline.
